Hi, I am Dani - a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist working with children, teenagers, and adults experiencing stress, anxiety (including exam anxiety), low self-esteem, unwanted habits, fears and phobias, or challenges with emotional regulation.
I help clients understand the link between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, gently shift patterns that may be holding them back, and build practical tools to feel calmer, more confident, and more in control in everyday life.
I offer therapy sessions online and in person in Harpenden, providing flexible options to suit different needs and circumstances
Before becoming a therapist, I spent sixteen years in a corporate career. After taking time out to focus on my family, I felt drawn to work that made a more direct and meaningful difference to people’s lives.
Becoming a parent sparked my interest in psychology, and supporting my children’s emotional development deepened my appreciation for the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience at every age.
After my career break, I joined the NHS in a Health and Wellbeing role, supporting staff through wellbeing initiatives and stress reduction programmes for almost four years. During this time, I trained as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, which strengthened my understanding of how common stress, anxiety, and low mood are and how much emotional awareness, empathy, and practical skills can help.
My experience in mental health inspired me to retrain as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, specialising in working with children and young people, while also supporting adults. I am particularly drawn to working with younger people because early understanding, emotional support and practical coping skills can make a meaningful difference to confidence, resilience and wellbeing as they grow.
I combine evidence-based approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness to help clients understand unhelpful patterns, build on their strengths and develop skills that support positive, lasting change. I believe everyone deserves to understand their emotions and feel confident in their ability to manage life’s challenges.
My aim is to offer therapy that feels supportive and easy to engage with, helping clients develop skills that continue to support them in everyday life.
A Little Bit About Me
As a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, I use evidence-based approaches to help you make practical changes and support emotional growth. The focus is on understanding the challenges you are experiencing now and developing practical tools to support positive change going forward. Past experiences are explored where they help create greater understanding and clarity.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and gently reshaping them, you can respond to challenges with greater clarity, calm, and balance. CBT also offers practical strategies to manage difficult emotions, reduce stress, and build resilience in everyday life.
Hypnotherapy involves focused attention on helpful ideas and therapeutic suggestions. It often uses calm and relaxation to allow the mind to explore new perspectives, rehearse more positive responses and strengthen helpful changes. Hypnotherapy can support confidence, emotional regulation and a greater sense of inner control.
Mindfulness builds awareness of thoughts and emotions in the present moment, supporting calm, focus, and self-compassion.
Research suggests that combining hypnotherapy with a CBT framework can enhance therapeutic outcomes. Used together, these approaches offer a practical and flexible pathway to emotional wellbeing, supporting anxiety, confidence, habits, sleep and emotional regulation in both adults and young people. This integrative approach aims to strengthen resilience and support lasting change.
Therapeutic Framework
My Approach
Therapy with me is collaborative and compassionate, focused on helping you feel safe, understood and supported. I offer a calm, welcoming space for children, teenagers and adults to explore challenges and develop confidence, resilience and practical coping skills.
When working with children, sessions are often creative and playful. I use imagination, play, drawing, or storytelling to help them express thoughts and emotions naturally. This helps them develop emotional understanding, self-belief, and skills they can carry into everyday life.
I work within clear ethical guidelines and safeguarding standards, with regular supervision to ensure safe and supportive practice for all clients.
I am committed to ongoing training and professional development, so my work remains safe, ethical, and aligned with the latest evidence in the field.
Together, we set clear, achievable goals and review progress regularly so you can see positive change and feel supported every step of the way. My aim is for you to leave therapy feeling more capable, calm, resilient, and equipped with practical tools to manage everyday challenges.
If you would like to explore whether support might be helpful for you or your child, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. This is a relaxed and informal opportunity to ask questions and see whether this feels like a good fit. You can get in touch through my contact page to arrange a call.
I have specialist training in supporting children and young people, and sessions are always adapted to their developmental stage, needs, and interests.
While I work with people of all ages, supporting young clients is a significant part of my practice. I use creative and engaging approaches such as drawing, stories, visualisation, and therapeutic play, which can help children and teenagers express themselves more comfortably and make sense of their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels natural to them.
My work draws on structured, child-focused Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy methods, and where appropriate I incorporate the Hypno4Children® and Hypno4Teens® frameworks. These approaches support young people in understanding their thoughts and emotions, managing stress, and developing healthy coping skills.

Across sessions, I use evidence-based approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness.
These may include:
Relaxation and breathing techniques
Learning ways to create distance from unhelpful thoughts
Gently exploring and reframing unhelpful thoughts or beliefs
Guided imagery and visualisation
Positive suggestion and simple self-hypnosis practices
